Ampi, Feb 16: Kaipeng Women Society (KWS) and Kaipeng Youth Association (KYA) jointly organized 97th Kaipeng Rai Kumvei state-level festival 2025 at Dhanlekha village under Ampi Nagar RD block in Gomati district.
There was huge enthusiasm among the people during the three-day festival that concluded on Sunday.
A large number of people belonging to the Kaipeng community from all over Tripura joined the festival in a vibrant atmosphere.
Kaipeng social administrators and dignitaries as well as representatives from other indigenous communities have taken active participation in the programme.
MLA Ram Pada Jamatia inaugurated the programme, in the presence of other dignitaries.
The MLA said, "Our indigenous costume, food, heritage, culture and religious faith must be protected and promoted for our next generation. The Kaipeng tribe has their unique identity and social procedure which are most essential for the national level identification for the Kaipeng tribe."
According to sources, instead of one year, the new Rai will now be elected for the Kaipeng community after every three years.
On the other hand, aiming to generate progress amidst deprived indigenous communities in the cultural field, MDC Shipsonlian Kaipeng has distributed musical instrument sets among different indigenous teams from Kaipeng community, Molsom community and Chorai community.
Sources said, sound systems and various instruments were given for organizing religious programmes at the village level.
Sindhu Chandra Jamatia, Ampi BAC chairman, Dharmaraj Kaipeng, new Rai, Vanlalkhawm Kaipeng, GS of Kaipeng society, Hnam Kunga Darlong, DHI-GS and many others remained present in this programme.
