Kailashahar, Nov 13: The 28th state-level youth festival and science fair was inaugurated on Wednesday at the Unakoti Kalakshetra in Kailashahar organized by the Department of Sports and Youth. Minister for Sports and Youth, Tinku Roy, officiated the ceremony by lighting the inaugural lamp.
The event was attended by dignitaries including MLA Birajit Sinha, Chairman of the State Wakf Board, Mobswar Ali, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, Satyabrata Nath, Department Secretary, Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Kailashahar Municipal Council Chairperson, Chapala Debroy, and Unakoti District Magistrate, Dilip Kumar Chakma, among others.
Minister Tinku Roy, in his speech, encouraged the youth to embrace self-reliance and showcase their innovative talents, underscoring state's advancements, particularly in rubber production and bamboo-based industries. Addressing current youth challenges, Roy urged young people to prepare for self-sustaining careers and expressed concern over the rise of old age homes, calling on the audience to care for their elders.
While the Youth Festival is being held at Unakoti Kalakshetra, the Science Fair has commenced at Srirampur SM H.S. School in Kailashahar. Following the inauguration, the minister and guests visited the fair, observing the various scientific models and innovations. The festival and fair, which continues until November 15, will feature participation from numerous educational institutions and organizations, with young science enthusiasts and cultural performers showcasing their talents and innovations.
