Charilam, Feb 18: The body of a minor student was recovered from the toilet at Ramkrishna Vivekananda Ashram of Madhuban Rani Khamar under Amtali Police station in Tripura on Friday night. The deceased, a resident of Shilchar, was a student of the Ashram.

The 11-year-old boy went missing on Friday evening and his hanging body was recovered from the toilet on the same night. It was alleged the boy committed suicide.

The incident sparked serious discontent among the other minor students of the Ashram and many raised fingers at the role of the concerned Maharaj and a person, Haripad Malakar of the Ashram.

Local people and inmate students of the Ashram alleged that Maharaj and his accomplice regularly torture them and the duo also mercilessly tortured the deceased boy following which he went missing and subsequently his hanging body was recovered on Friday.

Police brought Malakar to the Police station for interrogation and released him thereafter. Local people demanded stern action against Malakar and others involved in the incident. Alleging regular torture of the minor boys, the locals also demanded the closure of the Ashram.
