Sudhangshu Chairs Review Meeting of Fisheries Dept: Addresses Flood-led damage

Agartala Nov 08: The Department of Fisheries, like many other state departments, faced significant losses due to the devastating floods in August. The total damage to the Fisheries Department is estimated to be around 1350 crores, said Minister Sudhangshu Das.
The ARDD and Fishery Minister on Friday chaired a review meeting, aiming to strategize recovery efforts and resume normal fishing activities across the state.
Apart from Das, the meeting was attended by various departmental officials. The discussion focused on assessing the extent of the damage, evaluating current resources, and planning the necessary steps to rebuild and support the fisheries sector.
Talking to the reporters, Minister Das highlighted the commitment of the Fisheries Department to overcome the challenges posed by the natural disaster and ensure the revival of fishing activities.
“This initiative is crucial for the livelihood of those dependent on the fisheries sector and for maintaining the state's economic stability”, he said.
Das further added, “By working collaboratively, the department aims to implement effective measures that will help restore the fisheries industry and mitigate future risks”.
He also urged for proactive involvement of the department's officials to driving these recovery efforts forward.
