According to reports, tea garden workers of 7 tea plantations under Bamutia assembly constituency have been reeling with different crisis.
Saturday, the workers gheraoed the tea garden office while raising various issues including irregular payment of wages.
Raising their demands in front of the reporters, the garden workers said, “For long time we have been reeling with different problems. We are not paid wages on a regular basis, medical and residential facilities are unavailable, ration is not received properly and many more”.
“Despite informing the concerned authorities of the tea garden, nothing has been done so far and we are subjected to sufferings”, added one of the agitators.
Police of Bamutia outpost and garden authorities rushed to the spot of protest receiving the information of gherao.
Although the gherao was lifted after a prolonged discussion between the workers and the garden authorities, the workers warned to launch a larger movement in near days if the demands are not fulfilled.
