Belonia, Feb 10: A man attempting to steal from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Bansh Paduya met a tragic fate when he was caught red-handed and brutally beaten by a mob. 

The accused, identified as 35-year-old Babul Mia, a resident of Muzaffar Colony, succumbed to his injuries following the assault.

It was learnt that the incident took place late Sunday night when Babul Mia allegedly climbed the school’s boundary wall to commit theft. Upon being caught, locals severely thrashed him and tied him up. 

Next morning, police rushed to the spot and immediately took him to Belonia Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead. 

Hearing the news, Babul Mia’s family members rushed to the hospital and broke down in tears. It was alleged that Babul Mia had multiple criminal cases registered against him at Belonia police station.
