Agartala, Apr 08: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday launched a scathing attack on Mamata Banerjee-led government and Trinamool Congress on various issues.
He was addressing a programme on ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ organized by the West Bengal unit of BJP at National Library, Kolkata.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said Kolkata has always been very close to Tripura but a distance has been established between the two states over the past few years due to political reasons.
He said, Trinamool Congress attempted to make inroads in Tripura multiple times but the people have rejected them. In the last assembly polls in Tripura, the TMC’s vote share was less than the NOTA.
He praised the Karyakartas of West Bengal for continuing their fight against the gunda-raj of Trinamool.
In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Dr. Saha encouraged the BJP Karyakartas in West Bengal to strengthen every booth. He also assured necessary support from Tripura in this regard.
Dr. Saha also stated that the communists had started political violence and then TMC imported it. TMC is the carbon copy of Communists. Further poking at the TMC government over scams, he said, the vote counting is over but the note counting is still going on; the big fishes are being caught in the net.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said, Tripura has set an example of free, fair and peaceful elections. Not even a single political murder has been reported. One should visit Tripura to know what is called democracy.
Expressing hope, he said, the people of West Bengal would defeat the TMC in the same way the people of Tripura ended the communist rule. After the win in Tripura, now it’s Bharatiya Janata Party’s turn for West Bengal to form the double-engine government, he said.
The Chief Minister also mentioned some of the major achievements of his government including release of 12 percent DA to government employees, hike in social pension from Rs. 700 to Rs, 2000 and recruitment of TET qualified candidates.
BJP national general secretary Sunil Deodhar, BJP West Bengal president Dr. Sukanta Majumder, Tripura BJP president Rajib BHattacharjee, party’s West Bengal general secretary Agnimitra Paul and other leaders from West Bengal and Tripura were also present in the programme.
Earlier Dr. Saha was received by the BJP leaders including the state president at Kolkata airport.
