Agartala, Jan 1: BJP Tripura Pradesh president and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee highlighted the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led central government during the last decade as part of the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra.’
Addressing a press conference at the state office in Krishna Nagar, Bhattacharjee said the Yatra, launched by the Prime Minister aimed to saturate the benefits of central government schemes across the nation. Bhattacharjee pointed out several key initiatives, including the Swachh Bharat Mission, which provided free toilets to 12 crore households, helping 6.6 lakh villages eliminate open defecation.
He said the scheme has also saved approximately 60 thousand children’s lives annually by reducing child mortality.
Bhattacharjee also spoke on the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, which has benefited over 25 lakh ex-servicemen and their families over the last decade. He further highlighted the success of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana under which 54.25 crore bank accounts were opened, setting a global record for financial inclusion.
Targeting opposition parties, Bhattacharjee criticized their lack of progress over 25 years and compared it with the BJP’s achievements in key sectors like roads, healthcare and water supply under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
MLA Bhagaban Chandra Das and BJP media in-charge Sunit Sarkar were present at the press meet.
Bhattacharjee reaffirmed the BJP’s focus on development and ensuring that welfare schemes reach every citizen.
