Agartala Jan 04: Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has raised serious concerns about the ‘resurgence of militant activities’ in the state of Tripura.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, after he attended a blood donation camp organized at Daily Desher Katha Bhavan, Sarkar emphasized the need for the present government to be vigilant and well-informed about the situation.
He questioned whether the militants are coming from outside the state and where they are currently operating.
The former chief minister stressed that the government should have detailed information on these matters, and if they do not, it reflects a significant weakness in their intelligence efforts.
Sarkar noted that during the tenure of the Left Front government there was a strong focus on monitoring militant activities.
“The government maintained close coordination with paramilitary forces and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans to ensure the security of the borders. This proactive approach helped in keeping the state safe from militant threats”, he said.
Sarkar's remarks came amid growing concerns about the infiltration of militants into Tripura.
He urged the current government to take immediate action to address the issue and ensure the safety and security of the state's residents.
Meanwhile, the former Chief Minister's comments have sparked a debate over the government's preparedness and effectiveness in handling such critical security challenges.
