Agartala, Oct 02: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha made an appeal to the people to come forward in maintaining cleanliness across the state and contribute towards building a plastic-free Tripura.
He made this appeal at Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala during the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister stressed the need to eliminate single-use plastics and raise awareness for environmental protection through collective efforts and social movements.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Saha highlighted the BJP’s ongoing "Seva Pakhwada" campaign, which commemorates significant dates, starting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17, followed by the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on September 25, and concluding on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti.
During this fortnight-long initiative, various activities such as blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, and clothing distribution programmes were organized.
Dr. Saha also extended his heartfelt greetings to the people on the occasion of Mahalaya and the upcoming Durga Puja festival.
Reflecting on Mahalaya, he shared, Mahalaya brings a unique feeling every year, signaling the arrival of Durga Puja, which holds great significance for people from all communities.
He reiterated the government's commitment to addressing public issues while working towards a cleaner, plastic-free Tripura.
Dr. Saha also mentioned the BJP's ongoing membership drive, with a target of enrolling 12 lakh members in Tripura. In 2019, we had 650,000 members, and we are confident of reaching our new target, he added.
Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, BJP state vice-president Tapas Bhattacharjee, Agartala Municipal Corporation’s Central Zone chairman Ratna Dutta, and Bardowali Mandal president Sanjay Saha also participated in the cleanliness drive.
