Tripura CM casts his vote for Rajya Sabha election at Assembly

Agartala Sept 03: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha along with other MLAs on Tuesday morning had cast his vote for the Rajya Sabha election at the Legislative Assembly.
Tripura Pradesh BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee and CPI-Ms Sudhan Das (former MLA) are contesting for the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Tripura.
Exuding confidence in Rajib Bhattacharjee’s victory, the chief minister said, “I am expecting to receive all 47 votes from BJP, TIPRA Motha and IPFT members”.
“Pradesh BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee is contesting for the Rajya Sabha seat and it is certain that we will win”, he added.
Dr Saha expressed hope that Bhattacharjee will raise the crucial issues of Tripura in the Rajya Sabha and work towards overall welfare of the masses.
The voting started from 9 am in the morning and will continue till 4 pm and later the votes will be counted from 5 pm in the evening.
The results are likely to be announced on the same day.
Notably, the Rajya Sabha seat in Tripura fell vacant following the resignation of Biplab Kumar Deb, who contested from the West Tripura Parliamentary Seat and secured victory in the 2024 general elections.
