Belonia, Dec 11: The Congress party in Tripura is gearing up for a massive statewide agitation starting January 5, next to protest against unemployment, unfilled vacancies, wage disparities among government employees, and rising prices.
The movement will span two months and is part of the All India Congress Committee's broader campaign to "protect the Constitution."
Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President, Ashish Kumar Saha made the announcement during a press conference held at the Belonia Congress Bhavan on Wednesday. Saha is currently touring the South District, holding discussions with Congress leaders from Santirbazar, Belonia, and Rajnagar constituencies to finalize strategies for the upcoming protests.
Saha criticized the BJP government for failing to fulfill its promises and said that the agitation would include conventions, public meetings, and the adoption of resolutions demanding urgent action on critical issues. "The BJP's inability to address pressing concerns like unemployment and wage disparity highlights its betrayal of the people’s trust," Saha remarked.
The TPCC president also expressed concern over the strained diplomatic ties between India and Bangladesh, blaming the state government for failing to take a firm stance. “The deteriorating relations are a matter of grave concern, and the state government’s negligence is a significant contributing factor,” Saha stated.
