Agartala, Feb 06: The Tripura government is committed to improving the state’s education system by ensuring better facilities in every school, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said on Thursday.
He said, as part of this initiative, the Education department is focusing on foundational literacy and numeracy for children aged 2 to 7 under the ‘Nipun Tripura’ project, utilizing Teaching-Learning Materials (TLM).
The Chief Minister, who inaugurated the state-level Teaching-Learning Material (TLM) Exhibition and Competition at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.
Speaking at the event, he emphasized the government’s continuous efforts to enhance the quality of education.
The event was attended by Special Secretary of the Education Department Raval Hamendra Kumar, SCERT Tripura Director L. Darlong, and Director of School Education N.C. Sharma, who presided over the function.
This year’s exhibition featured over 160 handmade, low-cost TLMs created by teachers from all eight districts of the state.
The competition was structured at three levels—sub-division, district, and state—where selected teachers showcased their TLMs at each stage. The best 20 TLMs from the district level qualified for the state-level exhibition.
The initiative has seen massive participation, with nearly 3,000 teachers competing in the first edition of the event in 2023, and an even larger participation of over 7,000 teachers in 2024.
At the end of the state-level competition, a panel of judges selected 10 best TLMs—five focused on language learning and five on mathematics.
The Chief Minister personally handed over the awards to the winning teachers, recognizing their innovative contributions to the education sector.
