Tripura police recovers 240 kg ganja hidden underground

Agartala April 03: As a part of anti-drugs operation, Tripura Police along with CRPF personnel recovered 240 kg of dried cannabis hidden underground in a residence in Rampada Para under Melaghar Police Station.
Briefing the reporters in this context, Melaghar Police Station OC Debashish Saha said, “We received specific information about illegal storage of contraband items in one residence in Rampada Para from our secret sources”.
“Accordingly, police of Melaghar PS and CRPF personnel raided the residence of one Chaitra Mohan Debbarma and recovered around 240 kg dry ganja having a market value of approximately Rs 8 lakh hidden underground”, he said.
House owner Chaitra Mohan Debbarma has also been arrested by police and a specific case under NDPS Act has been taken up against him at the Melaghar PS.
The detained person will be produced before the court seeking police remand for further interrogation, said the Officer in-charge.
