Tripura to export 16 kg Agar oil to Dubai

Agartala, Dec 03: In a major boost for Tripura’s Agar sector, The Director General of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has given approval for export of 16 kg Agar oil from Tripura to Dubai.
Mamon Enterprise of Kadamtala in North Tripura district has been given the license on Tuesday.
An official associated in this sector said, the Agar oil would cost Rs. 5 lakh per kilogram and total Rs. 80 lakh (excluding GST) for the consignment of 16 kilograms.
“This will boost Tripura’s Agar industry and promote it on the global stage,” the official said.
Meanwhile, in the opening session of on-going 4th International Agarwood Conclave and Buyer-Seller Meet, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha mentioned the potentials of this sector in the state and the plans to build Rs. 2000-crore Agar-based economy in the next 4 to 5 years.
The state government has introduced ‘Tripura Agarwood Policy 2021’ to attract investment in this sector and its success is already visible.
