Tripura's Arpita makes debut in Tollywood music

Agartala, Nov 28: Arpita Sarkar, a young artist from Tripura, has made a debut in Tollywood towards achieving her dream of becoming a playback singer.
"Shono Shonai" is the song that she sung for the first time in a feature film called "Mahishasurmarddini". Avijit Kundu is the music director and Subhadeep Kantal is the lyricist.
Arpita, who moved to Kolkata a few years ago, has always been connected with music since childhood. She has been guided by two renowned music teachers- Kabita Bhattacharya and Amar Ghosh.
Daughter of Dilip Sarkar and Smriti Sarkar, Arpita has completed her graduation in 2018 while chasing her dream in the field of music. She has been performing stage shows since long ago.
"This song has been released on the youtube channel of Times Music Bangla and is available on all the audio platforms," Sarkar said in a whatsapp chat.
Talking about her debut as a Tollywood playback singer, the artist said she used to sing cover songs and upload them on her YouTube channel. Someone among the listeners had sent one of the cover songs to two production houses and then she was called for recording the song.
Directed by Ranjan Ghosh, 'Mahishasurmarddini' is a film based on women empowerment, she said. The movie featured eminent actors like Rituparna Sengupta, Parambrata Chakraborty, Saswata Chatterjee and Kaushik Kar.
