Agartala Dec 27: Surajit Dutta will be known for his unwavering commitment to his constituents apart from being a seasoned politician of the state, said MLA Dipak Majumder.
Friday, marked the first death anniversary of Surajit Dutta, a revered public leader and former MLA of 7-Ramnagar Assembly Constituency.
The entire population of Ramnagar came together on this day to celebrate the legacy of Dutta, fondly known as “Sunu Da” through various programs, led by present MLA Dipak Majumder.
The tribute program commenced with the offering of wreaths to Surjit Dutta's portrait at various booths under Ramnagar constituency in the morning. The solemn ceremony was a heartfelt tribute to the late leader, reflecting the deep respect and admiration the community holds for him.
At the Ramnagar Mandal office, MLA Dipak Majumdar, along with Corporator Snigdha Das Deb, offered wreaths to Dutta's portrait.
The event was also attended by Mandal president Amitabha Bhattacharjee, former president Tapas Kumar Deb, and other notable figures, who paid their respects to the beloved leader.
Talking to the reporters, MLA Dipak Majumder said, “Sunu da will remain alive in the hearts of the people of Ramanagar because of his commitment towards the overall welfare of this constituency and its residents. Having taken charge, I am also following his footsteps”.
Failed in battling with several health complications, Surajit Dutta, passed away on December 27, 2023 at the age of 75. A veteran BJP leader, he served as a seven-time MLA and former minister of Tripura.
