'Upscaling Aapda Mitra': NDMA starts training prog in Agartala

A disaster management training of community volunteers- Aapda Mitra is going on in Laxminarayan Bari lake in Agartala.
A target has been set to train 1200 volunteers in Tripura under the programme 'Upscaling Aapda Mitra’ launched by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), said Ranjit Mandal, Master Trainer of National Training Institute.
Speaking to the media, he said, now the training for 5th batch of Aapda Mitra volunteers is going and Tuesday was the sixth day of twelve-day training.
“Today (Tuesday), we are imparting the volunteers on how to operate boats and rescue people in case of any emergency situation,” he told the media.
The Upscaling Aapda Mitra scheme is being implemented and sponsored by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in partnership with the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).
The training programme has been launched by NDMA to strengthening the ability of Aapda Mitras to respond faster in case of any emergency situation.
