Agartala Nov 02: Providing uninterrupted and pure drinking water facility is one of the prime priorities of Central and State governments and accordingly necessary infrastructures were built.
Despite this, residents of Ramnagar, a prime area in the state capital, have been suffering from an acute crisis of drinking water for long days. Thanks to the concerned departments for the drinking water crisis, alleged the residents.
“This is not the first time that we are complaining. Leave the household water connections, the roadside water supply connections are not even working. Everyday, especially since the days of Durga Puja festival, we have been experiencing such a crisis, but nothing is being done to solve the crucial issue”, said one of the local women.
Another lady in her sixties alleged, “After a change in power in 2018, the Government initiated some steps for the development with an emphasis on providing safe drinking water. At times of elections, they come begging for votes. But later they forget all the promises made to the citizens”.
Local residents who contacted the Shishu Bihar Water Supply Office were informed that there is no inherent water problem.
However, it was noted that the crisis is being exacerbated by individuals illegally drawing water, contributing to the shortage.
