Agartala, Jan 30: The members of Agartala Press Club, including their family members, celebrated the club’s 40th foundation day on Tuesday.

A colourful procession and get together marked the beginning of year-long celebration with the active participation of all—right from the veterans to the youngest ones.

Nonagenarian journalist Shrotaranjan Khisha flagged-off the rally in presence of founder secretary of Agartala Press Club Satyabrata Chakraborty, founder member Subal Kumar Dey, veteran journalists- Samiran Roy, Fulan Bhattacharjee, Sanjib Deb, Sekhar Dutta, Arun nath, Pradip Dutta Bhowmik and Samir Paul.

President of Agartala Press Club Jayanta Bhattacharyya along with other members of the managing committee, journalists, photojournalists, hawkers and other media persons also took part in the rally. All the participants were welcomed on behalf of the Agartala Press Club.

The rally started from the club at 11.30 am and traversed through various roads in the city covering Ujjayanta Palace, Kaman Chowmuhani, Post Office Chowmuhani, RMS Chowmuhani, Orient Chowmuhani and then the rally ended at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.

After the rally, all the participants had lunch together at the club premises.
