Agartala Feb 22: Youth Affairs and Sports Minister, Tinku Roy, has urged the students and youth of the state to cultivate a mindset of self-reliance.
Speaking as the chief guest at the state-wide Chintan Diwas program, held at the Raima Swimming Pool premises in Badharghat on Saturday morning, minister Roy emphasized the importance of collective effort and inclusivity in achieving progress.
He highlighted the necessity of ensuring everyone's participation in various endeavours, with a particular focus on the prevention of child marriage and the fight against drug addiction. According to him, the state is endowed with abundant resources that should be utilized properly for the benefit of all.
The Sports Minister proudly noted the state's achievements in the past two years, mentioning the numerous medals won in school-level sports. He pointed out that despite being a small state, Tripura has achieved significant successes.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor, Manika Das Dutta, who presided over the program, highlighted the integration of sports into education.
She praised the role of Scouts and Guides in society, recognizing their participation in various important works. She also underscored the importance of blood donation, urging everyone to participate in this noble cause.
Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, lauded the contributions of Scouts and Guides in assisting the state government in various capacities. He emphasized their potential role in preventing child marriage and fostering a drug-free society.
State Police DIG, Prabir Majumdar, emphasized the readiness of Scouts and Guides to handle any situation, especially during crises such as natural disasters. He stressed the need for them to be mentally prepared at all times.
In his welcome speech, Director of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, S. B. Nath announced efforts to establish more units of Scouts and Guides in schools across the state. He expressed hope that, like NSS and NCC, the Scouts and Guides would also see widespread expansion.
The function also celebrated individuals who had demonstrated exceptional performance in the Republic Day parade across the state this year.
Additionally, a blood donation camp was organized on the occasion, inaugurated by Sports Minister Tinku Roy. The event was attended by Dr. Bharati Nigam, Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, and Dr. Suryakant Pal, HPD, Khelo India State Centre of Excellence among others.
