Youth's death leads to protest, villagers seek justice

Agartala, July 22: Death of a youth at Joyram Modi Para under the jurisdiction of Lefunga police station sparked tension among the villagers.
On the night of July 19, the youth- Ichuk Debbarma was brutally assaulted by his neighbors near the Bodhjungnagar Gas Bottling Plant while returning from the Kharchi Mela. He was found dead in his home on the next day.
The victim’s family called it an incident of ‘murder’. The Lefunga police so far arrested two individuals in connection with the alleged murder.
On Monday, a group of local villagers hit the street demanding the arrest of five more individuals who they believe were involved in the assault. They also submitted a deputation to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Mohanpur.
Speaking to the media, local residents expressed their concerns and called for justice.
Mrinal Pal, the Officer-in-Charge of the Lembucherra Outpost, confirmed that two arrests have been made and assured that efforts are underway to apprehend the other suspects involved in the incident.
