Rajya Sabha MP Kanak Purkayastha highlights NDA achievements during Tripura visit

\Assam’s Rajya Sabha MP Kanak Purkayastha undertook a series of programmes across Tripura this week, focusing on the achievements of the NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and stressing collective efforts toward building a developed and self-reliant India.

At the “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Convention” held in Sepahijala district’s Kajaria Community Hall, Purkayastha spoke about the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and the importance of public participation in realizing this national goal. He described the initiative as a continuation of the progress achieved in the past 12 years in areas such as governance, self-reliance, and welfare.

The MP also joined the Pragati Path Yatra at the construction site of the Unity Mall campus in Agartala, a Rs 150 crore project expected to be completed by 2027. He said the mall embodies the vision of “Vocal for Local” and “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” by promoting indigenous handicrafts, GI-tagged products, and ODOP items from across India.

As part of his outreach, Purkayastha participated in a tree plantation drive at Tripura University, met Registrar Samir Kumar Sil, and felicitated educationist Harjeet Nath for his contributions to technical education. 

He also interacted with Dronacharya Awardee Coach Bishweshwar Nandi, appreciating his role in sports development, and later visited the International Cricket Stadium at Narsingarh, where he joined another plantation programme and met officials of the Tripura Cricket Association.

Purkayastha emphasized that strengthening sports infrastructure and supporting athletes reflects the government’s commitment to nurturing talent nationwide.

Later, the Rajya Sabha MP from Assam also held discussions with BJP Tripura Pradesh president Abhishek Debroy and other party leaders at the state office in Agartala, focusing on organizational matters and future strategies.
