The Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress on Friday submitted a deputation to the Director of Health Services, demanding an extension of the deadline for updating registration details of nurses under the Tripura Nursing Council.
Â
The delegation argued that the current timeframe, set by a notification issued on June 10, 2026, is too short and has created difficulties for many nurses working outside the state. They pointed out that a large number of Tripura’s registered nurses are employed in hospitals and health institutions across India, making it financially and practically challenging for them to return home within such a limited period.
Â
Pradesh Youth Congress president Neel Kamal Saha while speaking to the reporters said, "Rising travel costs and the difficulty of securing sudden leave from workplaces are major obstacles".
Â
He warned that many nurses may fail to comply with the directive due to these constraints.
Â
Calling the situation “unrealistic and inconvenient,” the deputation placed two key demands: Immediate introduction of an online system to allow nurses outside Tripura to update their details remotely and Significant extension of the deadline if online facilities cannot be introduced right away.
Â
The leaders stressed that nurses are vital human resources for the state and administrative decisions should take their circumstances into account. They said extending the deadline would ensure compliance without imposing undue financial or professional burdens.
According to party sources, the Health Directorate assured that the matter will be brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities for consideration.
