TFES recruitment process remains incomplete for 5 years: Aspirants seek CM's intervention

Candidates who cleared various stages of the recruitment process for the Tripura Fire and Emergency Services (TFES) have expressed deep frustration over the prolonged delay in appointments, alleging that the recruitment process remains incomplete even after nearly five years.

According to the candidates, a recruitment notification was issued in 2022, following which physical tests were conducted across all eight districts of the state. The written examination was subsequently held on January 8, 2023.

However, instead of publishing the results, authorities reportedly informed candidates through a newspaper notice on June 4, 2025, that the written examination had been cancelled due to a major error in the question paper or evaluation process. As a result, the recruitment process had to be restarted.

A fresh written examination was conducted on December 14, 2025, for which previously qualified candidates once again prepared and appeared. The results, published in January 2026, showed that 1,416 candidates had qualified for the post of Fireman, while 16 candidates cleared the examination for the Driver post.

Candidates said the next stage of the recruitment process, the viva-voce or interview, was expected to follow soon after the results. However, more than five months have passed and no notification regarding the interview has been issued.

The candidates further alleged that when they approached TFES officials for updates, they received differing explanations. At times, they were told that approval from the Finance department was pending, while on other occasions officials cited a lack of funds or the absence of clearance from higher authorities.

The inconsistent responses have reportedly increased uncertainty and resentment among the successful candidates, many of whom said they have been waiting for five years for the recruitment process to conclude.

Appealing for immediate intervention, the candidates have urged Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to take necessary steps to ensure the completion of the recruitment process and provide appointments to deserving candidates without further delay.
