Agartala, Nov 1: In a joint operation against contraband items, the Agartala Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP) seized 10-kg ganja worth around Rs 1.72 lakh from Platform No. 1 at Agartala Railway Station on Thursday.
One individual, identified as Khudiram Karmakar from Assam, was arrested in connection with the seizure.
Acting on a tip-off, the joint team nabbed the accused, who was in possession of a bag containing the ganja.
According to Officer-in-Charge of Agartala GRPS, Tapas Das, Karmakar intended to board the Tripura Sundari Express to smuggle the contraband out of the state.
The police will produce the accused in court seeking a three-day police remand, he added.
A total of nine individuals were arrested last month in five separate NDPS cases registered under Agartala GRPS, the police officer said.
