Agartala, Nov 1: Former Member of Parliament Pratima Bhoumik lit lamps at the zero point of the India-Bangladesh border at Akhaura Check-post on the occasion of Diwali on Friday.

She also distributed sweets to BSF personnel and Border Guards, celebrating the festival of lights with them at the border.

Interacting with the media, Bhoumik stated that the BSF plays a crucial role in ensuring that the people of the country can celebrate and enjoy Diwali in a safe and secure environment. She acknowledged the BSF jawans' sacrifice, highlighting that they sacrifice celebrating Diwali with their families to fulfill their national duty. 

"We are here to celebrate the festival of lights with them so that they do not feel they are away from their families," she added.

Bhoumik extended her Diwali wishes to all the people of the state and sought blessings from Goddess Maa Tripureswari.
