CM Manik Saha engages with tribal journalists

Agartala, Nov 01: The Chief Minister of the state, Professor Dr. Manik Saha held a special discussion with the state’s tribal journalists at the Khumulwng Press Club on Friday. The event which took place at the State Guest House was aimed to extend Diwali greetings and foster dialogue among media representatives.
The Chief Minister was welcomed by Khumulwng Press Club President, Anshumoy Debbarma and Secretary, Ranjit Debbarma, who presented him with traditional tribal attire. Female tribal journalists and media representatives also joined in, sharing their festive wishes.
During the discussion, journalists raised concerns about the recent formation of an advisory committee under the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, which included no tribal members. Ranjit Debbarma requested the Chief Minister to address this oversight and emphasized the need for a dedicated media centre and government accommodation for journalists.
CM Saha acknowledged the past challenges faced by journalists and reaffirmed his commitment to press freedom. Saha assured attendees that their demands would be considered seriously and that the inclusion of tribal journalists in advisory roles would be discussed.
