Teliamura, Nov 22: The Government Railway Police and Border Security Force detained 12 Bangladeshi nationals on Friday morning at Teliamura Railway Station. Initial investigation revealed that the group, comprising men, women, and children, entered India through Karbook in Gomati district with the help of Indian agents.
Police stated that the infiltrators hailing from North Jaliapara in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, were planning to travel to Hyderabad via Assam. Acting on a tip-off, the security forces apprehended the individuals before they could board the train.
The detained include Mohammad Siddiq, Manora Begum, Abdul Aziz Ullah, and Azizul Haque, among others, with children as young as six months old. During preliminary questioning, they revealed plans to settle in Hyderabad.
Authorities have expressed concern over the rising trend of illegal migration in Tripura, with traffickers charging large sums to smuggle individuals into India. The detained individuals will be produced in court on Friday, with police seeking remand for further investigation.
