Agartala, Oct 17: 'Log Hut' is a new attraction for the tourists at Narkelkunja. Fifteen new Log Huts built at Narkelkunja, a beautiful island in Dumboor Lake in Tripura, are open now; the tourists can enjoy night stay.
The new facility inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday would now enable the tourists to enjoy night stay for a unique experience.
Some water sports activities and two Banana boats were also launched in the programme.
Meanwhile, a project for constructing 23 Log Huts at Narkelkunja have been taken up under Swadesh Darshan-I scheme. As of now, 15 Log Huts have been completed and the works for remaining eight Log Huts are underway.
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said, Tripura government is sincerely working towards developing all the tourist spots with modern facilities.
The Chief Minister tweeted, "15 new Log Huts developed at Narkelkunja are now open for tourists. Today inaugurated the new facility in presence of Hon'ble Tourism Minister Shri @Pranajitsinghar, MP Shri @RebatiTripura & other dignitaries. The Log Huts will now attract more tourists at Narkelkunja.”
He thanked the Tourism department for taking such initiatives to develop the Tourism sector.
The Chief Minister said, around 5 lakh domestic and international tourists visit Tripura every year, he said, adding that initiatives are being taken to attract more tourists.
Dr. Saha said, the state government is working with a special focus on women empowerment; 33 per cent reservation for women in jobs is one of the examples.
He also spoke about the major steps taken by the present state government in various fields including healthcare and employment generation.
The Chief Minister said, the government would reach out to the people with the report card of 100-day work.
The Minister for Tourism Pranajit Singha Roy said, an amount of Rs. 100 crore was spent for the development of the state’s tourist spots over the past four and half years. More Rs. 200 crore would be spent in the days to come through ADB.
Every Log Hut at Narkelkunja consists one bed room, one drawing room, one toilet and balcony.
In the programme, loans were handed over to four Self Help Groups through cheques.
MP Rebati Tripura and other dignitaries including MLA Parilam Debbarma, MDC Bhumikananda Reang, DM Dhalai U.K. Chakma and SP Dhalai Ramesh Chandra Yadav attended the inaugural ceremony.
