Dharmanagar, Feb 1: Even after several days, no significant progress was reportedly made in the investigation of a robbery that took place on January 28 in Chamtila in North district, where Burmese cigarettes worth approximately Rs 40 lakh were stolen.
The incident allegedly involved four personnel from the North District Police Superintendent’s office and two local mafias. It is claimed that the vehicle carrying the cigarettes, transported from Mizoram, was stopped in Chamtila and the alleged individuals stole the cigarettes. The driver of the vehicle was also attacked in the incident.
Despite the driver's serious injuries, the Pansagar Police allegedly refused to file his complaint and even threatened him.
The driver later approached the North District Police Superintendent and requested an investigation, which was initiated, but there has been no significant progress so far.Â
