Agartala, Feb 02: The Tripura Pradesh Congress has strongly criticized the Union Budget 2025-26, claiming that the BJP-led central government has ignored the state.
According to a press release issued by Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha, the budget failed to provide any major projects for Tripura, as well as other north-eastern states, except Assam. Saha pointed out that a proposal has been placed in the Budget to develop a urea fertilizer plant in Assam. But, despite repeated demands, the budget didn’t include any plans for setting up such a facility using Tripura’s natural gas resources. This has been a long-standing demand, but the government has once again ignored it.
According to the Pradesh Congress, limited employment opportunity is the major issue in Tripura at present time. But the double-engine government has so far failed to develop any medium or major industrial unit in the state.
Even though it is crucial for setting up industry in Tripura in terms of generating employment, the central government has completely overlooked Tripura’s industrial growth, the Congress party said.
Furthermore, Saha criticized the Union Budget for not announcing any project for the development of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
He remarked that the present state government and its three MPs have failed to bring any new project from Delhi.
The Congress leader urged the people of Tripura to prepare for the future to give a befitting reply against the central government’s deprivation.
