19 new Rural Development sub-divisions to be introduced in Tripura

Agartala, Aug 23: The Tripura cabinet on Tuesday cleared a proposal for setting up 19 more Rural Development sub-divisions, six working divisions and four circles.
Addressing a press conference at the Civil Secretariat, Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury said, the Rural Development department implements various development works in the rural parts of the state.
“To speed up the development works, 19 new Rural Development sub-divisions (the office of SDO), six working divisions (the office of executive engineer) and four circles (the office of superintendent engineers) will be set up,” he said.
At present, 23 RD sub-divisions, four circles and five divisions are functioning in state. After formation of the four new circles, every district would have RD circle office, he said.
“Decentralization of power will speed up the works and strengthen the rural development further,” Chowdhury said.
The minister said, works of over Rs. 1000 crore under the Rural Development department are underway.
