Agartala, March 24: Hailing the state budgetary allocation and initiatives taken under the education sector, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Monday urged upon the government to work on ensuring quality education in schools and colleges.
Addressing a press conference here at Agartala Press Club on Monday, the ABVP state secretary Gourav Das said that the government has taken some new initiatives for the youths and students of the state as was highlighted in the budget presented recently in the assembly. Over 20% of the state budget is allocated for the education sector, which includes recruitment, institution upgradation, establishment of new general degree colleges, and many others, he said, adding that the decisions would facilitate the students of Tripura at large.
He said that in addition to the new decision, the government must work on ensuring quality education in schools and colleges and organize seminars and webinars for professors and principals to generate more awareness on execution of NEP.
Regarding increasing rate of drug addiction in various educational institutions, the ABVP state secretary said that it is a very concerning matter that the North East, including Tripura has been made the corridor of drug, but at a time when the government is contemplating to build a drug free society, the students must come forward in identifying the drug dealers and intensify the combat against drugs.
Regarding the North East Youth parliament, he said that in the historic chapter of the recently concluded Chhatra-Yuba Sangsad 2025, the students of North-East India and Tripura have got a new direction of unity, progress and nationalism. The biggest pride of this Parliament is the active participation of the representatives of the 9 tribal communities of Tripura state, he added.
He said that they carried their message of heritage, crisis and potential on the national stage and became a symbol of unbreakable unity and harmony. Attending the Northeast Students and Youth Parliament held on the last day of the Parliament, students, youth representatives and intellectuals from all over Northeast India including Tripura gathered on one platform to discuss education, employment, language, culture, border security and social harmony.
