Agartala March 03: With an aim to alleviate persistent traffic congestion across the city the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) along with the traffic department is working on a comprehensive strategy to keep the city streets free from jams, said AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder.
Accompanied by AMC Commissioner Sailesh Kumar Yadav, local corporators and other concerned officials, the Mayor inspected various places under Ward No. 20 on Saturday.
Speaking to the reporters, the Mayor revealed that the city had been grappling with traffic issues. Emphasizing the significance of the initiative, the mayor mentioned that the new measures were part of a broader effort to address the challenges posed by increasing traffic in the area.
Talking about the decisions made with respect to the day’s visit, Dipak Majumder said, “Due to illegal encroachment of government land on the road behind Tulsibati school, traffic congestion is often reported in this area. Therefore, the traders have been instructed to vacate the place. Also, out of approximately 18 shops, only two have valid documents provided by the AMC”.
However, all the shops will be moved from there and temporarily accommodated next to the Tulsibati school till a permanent arrangement is made for them, said Majumder.
He also said that the road widening work of Orient Chowmani and Jackson Gate is going on that will further help in making the area free from traffic congestion.
