The distressed families on Friday complained that the lone 8-ft brick soling road in the village which posed as their only medium to travel, was cut off recently to 2-ft by the owner of the Hiracherra tea garden to facilitate himself. They further alleged that the road was cut off short with prior information to the villagers and others in the village under the dark sky, following which about 200 families working in the tea garden are presently facing trouble travelling through the road.
They said that the road, which now became impassable, is posing a threat to human life as vehicles are unable to enter into their village. The owner has cut off the road in the name of widening the adjacent drain.
Despite several approaches to the owner of the tea garden regarding construction of a new road, no attention was paid to them, they said, alleging that the owner had threatened them and asked them to leave the village.
