Udaipur, Feb 23: A debate has erupted in Udaipur over the color of newly constructed sections at the Tripura Sundari Temple.
The ruling party and opposition are exchanging accusations regarding the temple's new color scheme. The issue centers around the saffron color applied to the newly built areas, while the main temple remains unchanged.
The state Finance Minister Pranjit Singha Roy defended the renovation, claiming the temple area was renovated thoughtfully due to increasing visitors. He criticized the opposition for opposing the development.
However, opposition leaders have voiced strong objections to the color change. CPM leader Dilip Dutta questioned why the traditional color of the temple, which had been maintained for years.
Congress leader Titan Pal also expressed his dissatisfaction and stated that as a devout Hindu, he could not accept the new color scheme for the renovated sections. Pal further raised concerns about potential changes to the flowers used in temple rituals.
The controversy comes as preparations are underway for the possible visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 7, when he is expected to formally inaugurate the newly renovated temple.
