Development Council Demand Committee holds 3rd annual meet

Agartala Sept 20: Highlighting the long-standing demand for the establishment of separate development councils for each community and caste within the framework of the Constitution of India, the third annual meeting of the Development Council Demand Committee was held at the Student Home in state capital on Friday under the initiative of Congress’ Tea Labour Organization.
MLA Birajit Sinha chaired the day’s meeting where he expressed concern over the government’s lack of attention to this issue, emphasizing that the implementation of this demand would lead to significant development for the state’s populace.
“This initiative aims to promote the overall development of each community and caste, encompassing cultural, social and economic aspects”, he said.
MLA Sinha noted that the community would benefit greatly from government supervision.
During the meeting, it was decided that public relations efforts would be intensified at various locations following the upcoming Durga Puja, to garner public support for the demand.
Additionally, MLA Birajit Sinha was also felicitated for his remarkable achievements in the Assembly, Lok Sabha, and Panchayat elections of the state.
