Edu department pitting efforts to increase pass rate in Vidyajyoti schools: CM Dr Manik Saha in assembly

Agartala, Jan 15: The state government and its education department is putting utmost effort to increase the pass rate and bring better performance among the students of Vidyajyoti schools, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha here in the assembly session on Wednesday.
Responding to the queries of the Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman and MLA Gopal Roy in the assembly on Wednesday, the Chief Minister Dr Saha said that in the last board examination conducted by the CBSE, 87 per cent students of Vidyajyoti schools passed Madhyamik and 75 per cent students passed Higher Secondary.
“It is expected that the students of Vidyajyoti schools will perform better result in board exams in the coming years,” Dr Saha informed the assembly.
He said, “The Education Department has taken various initiatives to further improve learning in Vidyajyoti schools. According to the guidelines of the Vidyajyoti scheme, the Education Department had advertised for the recruitment of 300 subject teachers and 200 special educators for Vidyajyoti schools only.”
“Recruitment of 179 subject teachers has been made possible due to lack of suitable candidates. Among them, 44 teachers of sociology, 37 teachers of physiology, 49 teachers of geography and 49 teachers of economics have been appointed. 88 Special Educators have already been appointed. 125 Physical Education subject teachers and 125 school librarian posts for Vidyajyoti schools will be filled very soon. The posts of 118 computer science subject teachers will also be filled up very soon,” Dr Saha informed.
The Chief Minister said that initiatives have also been taken to render quality education and develop infrastructure in the Vidyajyoti School. Already 41 training camps have been conducted by CBSE, SCERT and Department of School Education through CBSE experts, he added.
