Agartala, Dec 05: In a significant stride towards sustainable agriculture and enhanced healthcare infrastructure, Bagma Agri Producer Company Limited (BAPCL), in collaboration with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), has launched a groundbreaking initiative to provide solar panels for farmers in Tripura.
Under this laudable initiative, seven farmers in the Kakraban R.D Block area of Gomati District have already adopted solar panels for irrigation purposes. This eco-friendly approach not only ensures efficient and cost-effective irrigation but also aligns with the broader goal of promoting clean energy in the agricultural sector.
BAPCL, with the financial backing of the state government of Tripura, has further extended its impact by installing twelve street lights in the premises of Kakraban Hospital. This move is designed to enhance the safety and accessibility of the hospital, providing a well-lit environment for both patients and healthcare professionals.
The solar project is being implemented by BAPCL in collaboration with Kalinga Renewable Energy Manufacturers Pvt. Ltd. (KARMA). NABARD's Tripura Regional Office has played a pivotal role in supporting BAPCL in the successful execution of the solar project. Notably, KARMA, a startup originating from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar and currently incubated at IIT Delhi, is contributing innovative solutions to ensure the project's success.
Sudip Majumder, Managing Director of BAPCL, expressed gratitude for the unwavering support received from NABARD and the state government. He highlighted that a delegation of twenty-five representatives from across Tripura visited IIT Bhubaneswar to gain valuable insights into the technology behind the solar panel project. This educational initiative, generously funded by NABARD and the state government, underscores a shared commitment to enhancing the understanding and implementation of solar technology in the region.
The collaborative efforts between BAPCL, NABARD, and KARMA exemplify the potency of public-private partnerships in driving sustainable development. As Tripura strides towards a greener and more energy-efficient future, initiatives of this nature are poised to make a substantial impact on the lives of farmers and the overall well-being of the community.
