Agartala, Feb 05: A review meeting was held on Wednesday at the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) conference hall to review urban development projects and address pressing civic issues. Mayor Dipak Majumder, Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Yadav, and several corporators participated in the discussions.
A key issue raised was the persistent waterlogging in the capital, which, according to the mayor, is being exacerbated by a dam constructed by Bangladesh on the Kalapaniya Canal. The obstruction prevents proper drainage of accumulated rainwater, causing inconvenience to residents.
During the meeting, the Mayor strongly urged citizens to stop dumping garbage in drains, emphasizing that blocked drainage leads to stagnant water, which in turn fuels mosquito breeding and worsens the mosquito menace. Majumder highlighted that AMC is implementing multiple measures to combat the rising mosquito problem, but public cooperation is essential.
Additionally, discussions covered the progress of various development projects, sanitation, water supply, and road construction. Officials stressed the need for collective efforts to maintain cleanliness and ensure a healthier urban environment.
