Agartala, Jan 05: Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu in his speech in the House on Friday said the government led by Dr. Manik Saha is committed to take the state’s development to new heights, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Governor said, fast progress with transparency is being observed in the important sectors like social, economic, healthcare, education and infrastructure.
He was addressing the House on the first day of the five-day winter Session.
While highlighting the state government’s major achievements and development plans, the Governor said, a total of 5.51 lakhs rural households were already provided with tap water connection under Jal Jeevan Mission.
He said, the ‘Chief Minister Tribal Development Mission’ was launched on November 15, last year with allocation of Rs. 30 crore for Janajati welfare. He said, under this scheme, the healthcare, education, drinking water, sanitation and development of lifestyle of Janajati people would get priority.
The Governor also said that the Agartala Light House Project, a dream project of the Prime Minister being implemented in the city, would get its final shape by June this year. He also said, under Mukhyamantri Nagar Unnayan Prakalpa (in collaboration with Tripura Urban Employment Programme), an amount of Rs. 1500 crore would be spent for developing urban infrastructure.
He said, constructions of 74,000 houses have been completed under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin in the FY 2023-24. He also said, 3.03 crores mandays were generated at an expenditure of Rs. 815.37 crore under MGNREGA till December 7, last year.
According to the government, 131 investment proposals worth Rs. 500 crore are under consideration of the state government.
While addressing the House, the Governor also highlighted the Tripura Police’s remarkable achievements in the fight against drugs since 2018-19.
He said, as part of the Neshamukt Tripura campaign, a total of 2,54,713 kg ganja, 10,92,524 bottles of contraband syrup, 50,05,301 Yaba tablets and 38,731 grams drugs were seized and 5,84,06,709 ganja plants were destroyed during this period. He said, 2,478 cases were lodged under NDPS Act and 3,822 persons were arrested in this connection.
Under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, a total of 2,46,339 farmers of the state had received Rs. 640.40 crore directly in their bank accounts since 2018-19. Besides, 3,29,860 Kisan Credit Cards were distributed among the farmers.
The Governor said, the state government’s importance on technology-based development—introduction of e-Office is one of the key initiatives for ensuring good governance. In this context, he also referred to the formation of the Good Governance department in August last year and introduction of Tripura Institution for Transformation.
