Govt focusing on infra development for stable power supply: Ratan

Agartala, Aug 05: Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath said on Saturday that the government is making every effort to establish proper power infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted power supply for the people of the state.
The Power Minister inaugurated an Electric Division office at Ranirbazar in the West district on Saturday and announced that the number of Divisional Offices of the Electricity Department is being increased to provide uninterrupted service to consumers.
He mentioned that the demand for electricity has risen due to the improvement in people’s livelihoods, and in response to this growing demand, the government is diligently working to upgrade the state's power sector.
"The work of laying underground power lines has commenced in the state, starting with the first phase in the Agartala Municipal Corporation areas. This initiative will be extended to all areas under municipal corporations and Nagar Panchayats in a phased manner," he added.
Nath further emphasized that laying underground power cables will ensure uninterrupted power supply, especially during the monsoon season.
Meanwhile, State Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury who was also present in the programme today said the inauguration of the Electric Division office in Ranirbazar has fulfilled the long-standing demands of the local people. He also emphasized that the state government is prioritising the development of electricity services.
Among others, MD of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) Debashish Sarkar and Jirania Panchayat Samiti Chairman Manju Das were present in the programme.
