HDFC bank fraud: Alleged mastermind sent to police remand

Agartala, Feb 23: The alleged key mastermind behind the HDFC Bank fraud case, Deputy Branch Manager Abhishek Sarkar, was presented in court on Saturday. The court granted a three-day police remand, although RK Pur police had requested five days.
Sarkar was arrested from the Badharghat area by RK Pur police in connection with the ₹82 lakh fraud case. According to police sources, several bank officials and even some personnel from RK Pur police station may be involved in the scam.
In a related development, police constable Jayanta Saha from RK Pur police station was dismissed from service for negligence of duty. Investigations into the scam and possible internal involvement are ongoing.
