Churaibari Jan 07: Tuesday morning, locals recovered a human skeleton from a dense forest in Ward No. 3 of Lakshminagar Gram Panchayat area under Churaibari Police Station.
While the discovery has left the area tense, with residents eager for answers, police of Churaibari police station led by second OC Pritimoy Chakma hurried to the scene.
In the presence of Executive Magistrate, they recovered the bones and skull. The remains were then transported to the morgue at Dharmanagar District Hospital for further investigation.
Talking to the reporters, Second OC Pritimoy Chakma indicated that the skeletal remains appear to belong to an adult and can be two to three years old.
“These conjectures align with local claims that a person had gone missing from that area approximately two and a half years ago, raising the possibility that the skeleton could belong to that individual”, he said.
Given the discovery's nature and the time period involved, the investigation will likely involve forensic analysis to determine the skeleton's identity and the cause of death, said Police.
