Agartala, Feb 06: In a tribute to his father, Justice Arindam Lodh of the High Court of Tripura has decided to introduce a lecture series at National Law University (NLU).
The lecture will be titled ‘Apanshu Mohan Lodh Memorial Lecture’ and an endowment of Rs. 8 lakh has already been provided to the NLU to fund it.
The announcement was made during the ground-breaking ceremony of NLU Tripura’s new campus on Thursday.
Justice Lodh emphasized that, as per a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the endowment fund will support the public lecture aimed at fostering academic excellence and discussions on contemporary legal and societal issues.
Late Apanshu Mohan Lodh was a towering figure in the legal fraternity of Northeast India, practicing law for nearly six decades—from 1958 until 2014. He was one of the architects in establishing a permanent bench of Gauhati High Court in Agartala and played a pivotal role in establishing Tripura High Court in 2013.
Beyond his legal contributions, he also founded Tripura Times, the state’s largest-circulated English daily, in 1960.
Justice Lodh expressed confidence that the endowment and the memorial lecture would serve as a lasting tribute to his father’s magnanimous multifaceted legacy.
