Kalyanpur, Dec 12: Commemorating 28 years of the 1996 brutal massacre at Kalyanpur Bazar Colony village, a rally was organised infront of Sonar Tari Mukta Manch on Thursday. Deputy Speaker of the state legislative assembly Biswabandhu Sen paid tribute to the victims of the massacre.

Joining the rally, the deputy speaker Bishwabandhu Sen castigated the CPI(M) and its then Left front government to highlight how extremism started from the era of the Left front. He urged the people to remain vigilant to prevent the communists from returning to power in Tripura.

Notably, on Dec 12, 1996, 26 people were killed at Kalyanpur Motor Stand in the Khowai district.

Local MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury and Teliamura MLA Kalyani Saha Roy along with BJP leaders Soumen Gope, Asim Debroy, Chayan Roy and Indrani Debbarma attended the rally.
