Santir Bazar, Nov 25: The Kendriya Vidyalaya Bagafa in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare organized an informative soil health testing programme in the school's Biology lab on Monday. The event, focused on raising awareness about soil health, was attended by Class IX students, faculty members, and key educators, including the Principal, PGT Biology, PGT Physics, TGT Math, and TGT Librarian.
The session featured expert trainers Dziesekhrielie Khezhie and Imtimen Longkumer from Hervesto Agency, who conducted hands-on demonstrations of soil testing techniques. Students learned to determine soil pH levels, measure electrical conductivity, assess organic carbon, and test nitrogen levels using advanced mini-lab equipment and soil testing kits.
Students actively engaged in the practical exercises, testing soil samples from local farmers' fields. This gave them real-world experience and a better understanding of the importance of soil health in agriculture, stated school authority. This initiative was a part of the Ministry’s Soil Testing Training Project, aimed to deepen students' knowledge of soil conservation and sustainable farming practices.
