Agartala, Nov 25: The enforcement team of the Traffic Police on Monday launched a drive to check traffic congestion here in Agartala Maharajganj Bazar area, considered to be the busiest road and biggest market of the capital town.

The operation, led by Traffic Officer Sudhambika R, mainly targeted the illegal parking and loading and unloading of heavy vehicles.

“The enforcement mainly aimed at ensuring free traffic movement during the working hours in Maharajganj Bazar by removing the illegal parking,” said Traffic Officer Sudhambika R. The officer said that the illegal parking is causing congestion in Maharajganj Bazar, further causing inconvenience to the traffic movement, especially during the working hours.   

“We are here to issue warnings to the people, who are doing illegal parking in this market area and moreover we are also to interact with the associations of the market to solve the problem,” she said, adding that one who will not abide by the traffic rules shall be imposed with a penalty. She also informed that loading and unloading of heavy vehicles at Maharajganj market during the working hours is also causing inconvenience to the public movement.

“Loading and unloading of heavy vehicles is allowed only after 8 PM," she said, adding that such enforcement will continue in near future.
