Agartala, March 03: The Tripura Mahila Congress on Monday announced a series of programmes on March 8 to mark the International Women’s Day and push the Centre to work for the welfare of the women and ensure their empowerment.

The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashish Kumar Saha chaired a meeting here at Agartala Congress Bhavan on Monday. Mahila congress state president Sarbari Ghosh Chakraborty attended the meeting and said that AICC in-charge for Tripura, Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka will be present in the events.

She also informed that a mass gathering will be held here at Agartala on March 11 next, where the Mahila Congress will reiterate their demand for 33% reservation for women, improvements in mid-day meal services, and salary hikes for ASHA workers and other support staff and ensure overall development of women. The demand was earlier placed on January 23 last, she added.
